ASSOCHAM Proposes to Hold Conference on?Indian Agriculture

Agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for about 58 percent of India’s population. Gross Value Added by agriculture, forestry, and fishing is estimated at Rs 18.53 trillion (US$ 271.00 billion) in FY18. Taking this initiative forward, ASSOCHAM proposes to hold a “Conference on?Indian Agriculture – Agenda for Inclusive Growth”?which is scheduled to be held on 12th?July, 2019 in New Delhi. Keeping in mind, this conference will be organized to promote investments in agri and allied sectors, enhancing “Make in India” initiative and Exports, boosting Research and Development in agri sector, reducing post harvest losses effectively, opportunities in irrigation and also to promote business potentials in this sector. It will also provide a platform for national and international stakeholders, representatives from union and state governments, investors, policymakers, industry leaders, trade bodies & associations agro technologists, agri experts to share their expertise in this area. The highlight of the conference is to brainstorm on various actionable ideas for development of agriculture sector in India. ASSOCHAM has also decided to prepare White Paper which will suggest policy recommendations for the newly formed Government specifically for the agriculture sector. Further, ASSOCHAM will be officially releasing the White Paper in the above mentioned Conference. The conference will be ASSOCHAM’s first interaction with the newly formed Government hence they have planned to organize it at a large scale by extending invitations to the newly appointed Minister and who’s who of agri sector.
