Weather Alert: Arrival of Southwest Monsoon

The Southwest Monsoon 2019 has finally made its arrival over Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Reaching earlier than its normal date i.e. 20th May, Monsoon has covered South Andaman Sea as well as few parts of South Bay of Bengal & Nicobar Islands. The Northern Limit of Monsoon or NLM is now moving across the Car Nicobar. Owing to the cyclonic circulation over southern parts of Andaman & Nicobar, light to moderate rains will continue over these parts. Coming towards Southern part of India, one cyclonic circulation is lying over North Interior Karnataka while the other is over Comorin. In addition, a trough is running across Interior Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka. As a result of which, scattered rains will take place in parts of Kerala, West Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. There will be isolated rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh. Talking about eastern and northeastern part of the country, a cyclonic circulation is active over East Bihar and another cyclonic circulation is over Upper Assam. Therefore, scattered rain along with thundershowers will continue over West Bengal, Sikkim & other northeastern states. Isolated areas in Odisha could also witness rainfall.
